Republic Spektor DMR

A medium-high yield blaster rifle used by the Republic in SOTOR: The 481^st Special Warfare Unit RP. A select fire weapon it utilizes two fire mods, Semi-Automatic and Burst fire. Each burst fires 3 individual blasts, while the Semi-Automatic mode fires one blast equal in power to the three blasts in a burst. This is because the weapon is intended to be used as a Designated Marksman Rifle.

The burst fire mode is intended to be used in standard combat scenarios. The weapons length and weight allow it to be utilized in both urban and rural combat. CQB combat is possible with sufficient skill but it is not a strong point of the weapon. Maximum effective range in burst fire mode is 350 meters.

The Semi-automatic mode is intended for use in sniping. The weapons maximum range is 700 meters. As mentioned above this mode triples the energy per single blaster bolt, this gives each bolt impressive penetrating power. A single bolt in this mode can punch through most personal armors and light vehicle shielding. Mandalorian and Echani personal shielding however have proven more durable however taking multiple shots.

To facilitate sniping the weapon features a high powered scope with thermal imaging and a wireless link to digital goggles or a suits HUD. Additionally a bipod can be mounted on the front-lower rails allowing for stable firing, it can also be attached to various Republic Standard Tripod mounts and connected to portable power packs.

The weapon is issued interchangeably with the SFOR Mark-II/Carbine. Each weapon has unique features that make them better suited for different situations. The Spektor is more suitable for stealth operations and sniping, while the Carbine has various compatible under-slung weapons that make it more modular in combat roles. Both weapons were popular in various divisions of the Military.
